NELSON, B.C – Police on Vancouver Island have seized a large shipment of hard drugs that they say was headed to Shambhala.
Central Saanich chief of Police Les Sylven confirms a man in his 20s was arrested after a truck was pulled over on the way to the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal on the southern Vancouver Island.
Police say they found what is believed to be cocaine, psilocybin, commonly known as magic mushrooms, methamphetamine, LSD, Xanax, and other pharmaceuticals stashed in a truck and travel trailer.
Police also say scales, packaging and $1500 in cash turned up during the raid.
“The last step of our investigation happened on Tuesday. We stopped the truck and the trailer knowing it was bound for Nelson and Shambhala”, Sylven tells MyNelsonNow.com.
He declined to specify if more arrests could come into question or if there are suspected ties to organized crime in the investigation.
However, the quantities and materials seized indicated that the drugs were intended for sale.
The bust was the result of a large-scale drug investigation that began in December 2018, and so far has turned up drugs and cash exceeding $100 000 dollars along with 9 high-end vehicles and 19 cell phones.
The name of the suspect has not been released as the matter has not yet been tried before the courts.
