NELSON, B.C – It looks like the Nelson International Mural Festival will be a recurring event.
Last week city council approved funding for the 2020 festival before this years edition has even begun.
The grant was a total of $25.000 for the Nelson District and Arts Council, who organized the inaugural festival last year.
Organizer Sydney Black reveals the festival is expanding this year, with more events surrounding the murals headlining the event.
Live music, documentary screenings, workshops and artist talks will beheld in addition to ten new murals being created during the course of the festival.
“We have really increased our impact this year, and we are looking forward to bringing that to Nelson”, Sydney Black tells My Nelson Now.
The first location announced for a mural is the back of the Hume hotel, where Montreal artist Kevin Lito will be creating a painting.
The festival kicks off august 16.
