BALFOUR, B.C – A wildfire broke out last night near Balfour Face, about 2 km northwest of the ferry terminal.
It was discovered last night, and crews along with helicopter resources were dispatched to the scene.
B.C Wildfire Service says the fire is 0.3 hectares in size, and so far the efforts to control it have been successful, according to spokesperson Ashley Davidoff.
“No communities or structures are threatened”, she says.
Crews from B.C Wildfire service are working with the Balfour Fire Department to control it.
On Tuesday morning the outlook was optimistic.
“It sounds like the fire activity has decreased in the area, and there is much less smoke, so things are looking good”, Davidoff says.
The fire is under investigation and is believed to have been human caused.
