NEW DENVER, B.C – Two timber bridges in the West Kootenays are getting some major upgrades.
Lyle Creek and Whitewater bridge, both about 20 kilometers east of New Denver are both being torn down and replaced with modern concrete and steel two lane structures.
This will mean good news for bicyclists as they will feature one and a half meter wide shoulders and bicycle railings.
For drivers travelling on highway 31 A this might mean some delays these coming weeks as detours are being set up.
During construction, single-lane alternating traffic will be in place 24 hours a day, the ministry writes in a press release.
Drivers are asked to be cautious in the area and check DriveBC for updates.
The bridges are set to open permanently in October.
