Travis Hauck is running for Nelson City Council under the Coalition Of Responsible Electors or CORE banner. Hauck has lived in Nelson since 1999 and worked at Gerrick’s Cycle and Ski for close to 16 years.
“Working downtown I met a lot of people in town, I heard lots of different conversations of what people want to see in Nelson. There’s a lot of things I want to see in Nelson. I’m a pretty active guy, I do lots of hiking and cycling and stuff. I have two young kids coming up into the school program.”
Hauck says he wants to see the right things happening in Nelson for his family, kids and those who love the outdoors around Nelson. He’s currently an entrepreneur and mountain bike instructor which he says helps him in his run for council as well.
“I’m out and about in different communities and I see things that I like and things that I would like to bring back to my community from these travels that I’ve been on.”
He says one of the number one reasons CORE is advocating for change on city council is to make things more efficient and to cut back on extra time and money in certain areas.
He says the CORE candidates may not agree on everything, however running as a group may help more of them get elected, as they have four main principals that people can identify: Fiscal Responsibility, Core Service Focus, Economic Growth, and Civic Pride.
