Construction begins for new emergency water source

Access to Nelson’s dog park will be limited as the City of Nelson starts work developing the lake as an emergency water source.

Trail users can still access approximately one kilometre of trail from the east-end near the Prestige Lakeside Resort.

City Manager Kevin Cormack says there’s a number of circumstances where the lake’s emergency supply may need to be used.

Cormack says it’s been a complicated project.

Construction is expected until the end of the month or early April.

Cormack says the City is still looking at finding a secondary water source which the lake is also considered for.
