Trees hitting power lines cause lengthy power outage in Nelson

Nelson Hydro’s manager says about 10,000 customers were without electricity at the peak of last night’s power outage.

Alex Love says the service interruption was attributed to a few factors.

He adds the situation kept crews busy overnight.

Power was out just before 9:00 pm and restored by 2:00 am Monday.

Love says it took a little longer for some North Shore communities to get their electricity restored.
