Logging plans for Cody Caves area withdrawn

Logging will not go ahead in a sensitive area just outside the boundaries of Cody Caves Provincial Park.

Cooper Creek Cedar has agreed to withdraw its request to harvest on the west and south sides.

Friends of West Kootenay Parks president Bill Bryce says they’re grateful.

But Bryce says they’d still like to see the area brought within the park.

They’re concerned logging could affect streamflows through the caves.
