Touchstones launches Kootenay soldiers photo project

By John Boivin

Soldiers from the Kootenays who fought in the First World War are being remembered in a way they could never have dreamed of.

About 190 photos of soldiers from Grand Forks, Creston and Nelson have been digitized and posted to the Flickr photo-sharing site.

The photos were donated to Touchstones Nelson in the 1980s.

Archivist Jean Phillipe Stienne says this summer student Tressa Ford was hired to to track down stories and records of the men in the pictures.

Stienne says you’re welcome to add any information you may have about the soldiers to the website.
