If an evacuation order is issued for Harrop, Procter, and Sunshine Bay, residents will get lots of warning.
That according to Travis Abbey with the Regional District of Central Kootenay.
Abbey says they are looking at ways of moving people out besides the cable ferry, including the Kootenay Lake ferries and search and rescue boats.
He says about 250 people crammed the Procter hall on Monday for a meeting about the Harrop Creek fire.

Nearly 500 properties have been on evacuation alert since Thursday.
The 3,100-hectare fire is considered 10 per cent contained with the north flank fully guarded.
