The Nelson Police Department says a 26-year-old cyclist critically injured in a collision last week is “doing well” in hospital with family by his side.
“[We] would like to thank the community for their ongoing support,” police said in a news release. “His family echoes our department sentiments, and wished to thank the Nelson community for their continued support as he finds himself back to proper form.”
The man collided with a vehicle at the corner of Stanley and Silica a week ago Tuesday and suffered life-threatening neck and head injuries. He was taken to Kootenay Lake hospital and then airlifted to Kelowna.
Police say “multiple contributing factors” to the collision are being considered. The cyclist wasn’t wearing a helmet.
