Air and ground crews at ready for wildfires

The South East Fire Centre has crews on standby throughout our area in the event of wildfires.

Two initial attack crews and two helicopters were able to assist local fire departments in dealing with Wednesday’s blaze at Beasley Bluffs.

Information Officer Karlie Shaughnessy says they have the resources to call on when needed.

In the case of Wednesday’s worrying blaze a helicopter was dispatched from Nelson and another from Castlegar.

A crew spent Thursday monitoring the site.
