No tax increases for KBRH upgrades

There will be no tax increases to pay for the big upgrades coming to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail.

Regional hospital board chair Aimee Watson says they’ve decided the $6 million-plus portion of the costs will come from reserve funds.

Hiking taxes was not on the agenda.

Watson says they have around $12 million in reserves and these sorts of upgrades are what that fund is for.

The province will pay $9 million of the $16.6 million dollar project which includes a new emergency room, ambulance area and electrical system.
