The BC Wildfire Service says it will conduct another prescribed burn in the Lardeau Valley this week, weather and site conditions permitting.
This one will be in the North Creek area.
In a news release, BC Wildfire said smoke from this 24.5-hectare controlled burn might be visible from the communities of Duncan Lake, Meadow Creek and Howser.
The goal of the burn is to reduce the amount of dead and combustible material, delay the growth of competing vegetation and decrease the risk of catastrophic wildfires in the area. The burn is part of a fuel reduction prescription to prepare the site for tree planting.
