Planting begins at IODE park

Landscaping and utility work has begun on Nelson’s IODE Park, above the Hall St. plaza.

The project is expected to last 10 to 15 days, depending on the weather.

The city says the work includes planting trees, shrubs, ornamental grass and ground cover, plus the creation of a pathway and terraced seating areas. Other park enhancements include a new picnic table, two new benches and solar pathway lighting.

Before the landscaping begins, crews will replace a short section of 1930s vintage water main that runs through the park.
