Avery Deboer-Smith is this year’s recipient of Nelson’s individual sustainability leadership award.
She was the city’s Water Smart ambassador this past year and did a record number of home assessments.
Deboer-Smith wasn’t able to accept the award in person this month.
She was on her way back from the Living Lakes international conference in South Africa.
