Touchstones Nelson has named Astrid Heyerdahl its new executive director, effective Nov. 7.
Heyerdahl comes to Nelson from North Vancouver where since 2013 she has been the executive director of the Gordon and Marion Smith Foundation for Young Artists.Â
She earned a masters of art history from the University of Toronto, a masters of education from York University and has over ten years of curation, arts and culture administration and education experience.
“I am absolutely thrilled to join the wonderful team at Touchstones Nelson and to continue the great work that they have been doing for so many years,” Heyerdahl said in a prepared statement. “My family and I greatly look forward to becoming a part of the Nelson community.
Herydahl replaces Leah Best, who recently took a job with the Royal BC Museum.
