Winter campground idea delayed to 2017

Neighbours will have to be consulted if Nelson’s campground is to be used in the winter.

That’s one of the challenges city staff have identified as council voted this week to study the idea for 2017.

Chief financial officer Colin McClure says they wouldn’t be able to pull it off before the campground closes Oct. 21 because it needs winterizing and possibly an electrical upgrade.

The city’s housing committee suggests the campground could help offset the lack of accommodation elsewhere.
