The woman who kept the Kokanee Creek Visitor Centre from closing has died at 69.
Suzy Hamilton was one of the driving forces behind the creation of the West Kootenay EcoSociety.
Friend John Alton says she convinced the society to take over the visitor centre from the province.
Hamilton also spearheaded the Barter Bucks system in Nelson in the 1990s.
Hamilton was a freelance journalist and co-hosted the EcoCentric on Kootenay Co-op Radio with Alton.
