Nelson city hall payroll holds steady

Not much change in the City of Nelson’s payroll last year.

The city paid $10.6 million in salaries in 2015 compared to $10.2 million the year before.

Mayor and council collectively earned $152,000 plus about $30,000 in expenses — the same as in 2014.

Twenty employees made over $100,000 versus 17 the previous years.

That includes city hall, Nelson Hydro, and the fire department but excludes the police department.

Top earners were city manager Kevin Cormack and Nelson Hydro general manager Alex Love, each paid about $166,000.
