Training and practice help rescue operation

Creston Fire Rescue’s Deputy Chief says a coordinated effort led to a well-executed weekend rescue at Canyon Bridge.

18-members from two local fire departments performed a rope rescue to extract a man who had fallen about 75-feet down the emabankment.

Jared Riel ran point on the operation.

He says it took about two hours total and didn’t pose any major obstacles.

Riel says it’s a challenging area to perform a rope rescue as far as securing access and anchor points.
