Another fire ban on the way

The Southeast Fire Center is ramping up fire bans in our region.

Effective Monday at noon, Category 2 open fires will be prohibited.

This is in addition to the Category 3 open fire ban currently in place.

Here’ s Fire Information Officer Karlie Shaughnessy.


It does not include campfires that are a half-metre high by a half-metre wide or smaller, or cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes.

Shaughnessy says the ban is to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.
