The Regional District of Central Kootenay is to send a powerful message to the Province aimed at keeping locally-owned wood mills viable.
They are calling on the government to come up with regulations that incentivize the proper distribution of timber supply so the right log gets to the right mill.
Local mills of the Interior Lumber Manufacturers Association (ILMA) say they are struggling to get access to enough wood to make their value-added products, grow their business and keep local jobs.
