It seems most of the tourism business community in Castlegar is on the same page when it comes to introducing a 2% hotel tax.
Fireside Inn General Manager Ron Lindskog says the City needs a bigger tourism push to draw people in.
He explains the majority of accommodators supported the levy because they sat down around a table and created a specific marketing plan.
Castlegar is one of a few communities in B.C that don’t have the destination tax in place that is then used to promote local tourism. 78% of accommodators supported the move to introduce the hotel tax.
The province still has to sign off on the city’s application.
