Rural Director to make appeal over Winlaw School

The RDCK rural director for the Slocan Valley will meet school trustees late next week to appeal for more time to help save Winlaw School.

A decision in early July could see it closed as part of district-wide cost savings plans.

Walter Popoff says the community needs at least a year to work on fund raising for upgrades and collaborations to find more uses for the building.

Even though Winlaw School is well utilized SD8 is considering closing it and moving the kids to W E Graham in Slocan as the most feasible option when weighing their total long term cost savings options for the Slocan Valley family of schools*
