Small increase in Kootenay unemployed

The latest job numbers are out from Stats Canada which reflect very little change across the board.

In the Kootenays 5,500 people out of a workforce of 73,100 are unemployed.

That’s a jobless rate of 7.5% which is slightly up over May of last year. About an additional 200 people are out of work.

BC’s unemployment rate is 6.1% which is slightly better than a year ago. Canada’s rate is 7.4% which is a little worse than May 2015.
