KSCU employees favour strike action

17 days of bargaining has failed to produce a result for employees at our region’s Kootenay Savings Credit Unions.

The membership has voted 94% in favour of strike action if necessary.

Jeff Bromley, the Financial Secretary with the United Steelworkers Locals says the next step is provincial mediation.

The stumbling blocks include language that protects pensions, the 2 year 0% wage increase and hours of work for the new member service centre.

The union represents 110 staff at our region’s Kootenay Savings locations.

The company is not commenting while negotiations are ongoing.
