The Grand Forks by election has been won by Bev Tripp.
She secured 280 votes of the total 889 that were cast for the seven different candidates in Saturday’s polling.
Tripp finished with 69 more votes than previous mayor Brian Taylor.
She says she knocked on hundreds of doors during campaigning and spoke one-on-one with many people.

Grand Forks has seen bitter divisions between councillors.
Tripp says she’s a listener and can see multiple sides of an issue. She says she will share in the responsibility for everyone to get along but others have to show that willingness too.
