Director: Nelson doesn't need more child care spaces

The $15-million of provincial money announced last week to create new child care spaces isn’t what’s needed in Nelson and area.

This from Valerie Wormington the Executive Director of Kootenay Kids Society.

She says while some parts of BC may need more spaces, Nelson actually has a surplus.

She’d rather see funding making it affordable.

At around $55 a day for an infant-toddler and up to $45 a day for slightly older kids, Wormington says what’s needed is a government subsidized program like Quebec.
