The Kootenay Lake School Board is not listening to community concerns regarding the proposed closure of Jewett Elementary.
This from Area Director Aimee Watson who says plans to bus grades 4 and 5 80km return from Meadow Creek to Kaslo and to move the K to 3’s into a portable at the Lardeau Valley Hall are not viable.
She says the board is opening the door for a possible sale and retention of the Creston Education Centre, which is also slated for possible closure, but not Jewett.
Jewett school has 22 kids but Watson says the board is not considering the various community services also run out of the school.
