Is Castlegar’s city-funded physician recruitment program paying off?
Councilor Sue Heaton-Sherstobitoff says it is as it has helped land two new doctors to the area, but more are needed.
Heaton-Sherstobitoff says retaining physicians is not a problem specific to Castlegar.
She would like to see more done by Interior Health to recruit doctors to our region and retain them.
She says a good step would be providing more incentives by lowering tuition fees for medical students as they are in demand.
