Butler to remain on GF Council: Judge

The BC Supreme Court has dismissed the City Of Grand Fork’s attempt to have Councillor Julia Butler removed from office.

The city brought the case over conflict of interest regarding the anti water meter councillor.

The judge found that while butler was initially in conflict she did the right thing by ending her lawn care business and did not ultimately vote on water matters while holding such business interests.

It remains to be seen how much this case will cost taxpayers.

Mayor Frank Konrad promises that’ll be made public.

Butler will get her legal costs paid by the city but says someone needs to answer for what is a costly mistake.

Butler claims this was never about conflict but because some in the community didn’t like her stance against water meters.
