The City Of Nelson and it’s police department have been given a decision from the province regarding what the appropriate number of officers should be.
But the public will have to wait for that information.
In a statement the Mayor said “City Council and the police board have received the decision of the director of police services.”
“There will be no comment at this time and details will be released once both parties have had the opportunity to review the decision.”

The Nelson Police Department says it needs to add two officers to its current compliment of 17 to do its job safely and properly.
That would cost taxpayers about $300,000 a year more.
City Council does not agree with that budget ask.
