The Kootenay Lake School District is set to become one of the biggest single investors in Nelson’s solar garden.
They’ve signed up for ten panels on behalf of Nelson schools for the proposed bonnington solar energy plant.
That’s a buy of around $8,500.
SD-8 Superintendent Jeff Jones says the board figures it’s a good community project.
Jones says the energy savings will be modest but its a long-term investment in doing the right thing.
The solar array is expected to be built in the spring.
