Nelson’s population growing

Estimates from BC Stats show some ups and downs for population numbers across our region.

Nelson has risen the most in our area since the last census was tallied in 2011.

It gained 431 new residents.

And Tom Thompson from the Chamber Of Commerce feels those numbers could rise more in coming years.

Nelson’s increase is 4%.

But Creston saw a dip of 11% or a loss of nearly 600 residents since 2011.

Trail had a population decline of 353 people or 4.5%.

Castlegar remained unchanged.
