New greenhouse for Lakeside Park

Nelson City Council has approved the purchase of a new, modern greenhouse at Lakeside Park.

This after the greenhouse was destroyed when a tree landed on it during the freak storm last summer.

The old one was partially leased by the local SEEDS non-profit which has done a lot to grow local food and educate the community.

Executive Director Eva Hernandez says the loss was a big blow.


But work will now start on getting a new, efficient and attractive greenhouse up on its concrete foundation in time for the spring season.
