A popular event in our area for locals and tourists has been cancelled.
The Starbelly Jam Festival on Kootenay Lake’s East Shore will not happen this year.
A number of management roles normally filled by volunteers has been cited as the main reason.
Dianna Ducs, the Executive Director with Nelson Kootenay Lake Tourism, says this will signal a hit to the local tourist economy.
Ducs says the situation is very unfortunate and adds it is a wake-up call for all of us to recognize the value of these types of events.
