The Nelson police officer who assaulted a woman two years ago has resigned.
Drew Turner – who was convicted last fall- is no longer an officer after he tended his resignation Thursday.
In a statement the NPD said the police board accepted it.
In September Turner was convicted of the 2014 assault of Tawny Campbell. He later received a sentence of 30-days of house arrest.
The NPD says the professional standards investigation – which is still ongoing – will be handled by the Vancouver Police Department
