Could Grohman dredging be viable?

Don’t close the file on dredging the Grohman Narrows.

That’s the message from Kootenay Lake East Shore Director Garry Jackmann.

He’s speaking after BC Hydro formally explained to RDCK directors that it’s not economically feasible to dredge that bottleneck relative to whatever flood benefits it could bring.

But Jackmann wants thought to be given to possibilities that could make it viable, like for example, using dredged rock over many years for flood defences and other things.

Jackmann says the aggregate could be perfect for shoreline work, but he adds this is just one idea that should prompt BC Hydro not to permanently close the file on the dredging idea.
