One of the more unusual weather events on Kootenay Pass.
That’s the word from District Avalanche Technician Rob Anderson with some extraordinary stats.
56 millimetres of rain fell in just over 24 hours.
And the temperature reached 2 C as the freezing level was actually above the summit at 2,100 metres.

Anderson says the pass was closed overnight because all that rain fell on lots of recent snow.
He says there was evidence of avalanche activity when they moved in to clean up this morning.
The pass is now open again.
