A local liquor store operator supports the call from private owners and BC Liquor Stores to sell marijuana once the new federal government legalizes it.
Ryan Martin, the GM of the Hume Hotel and liquor store in Nelson says he was polled recently asking for his opinion.
He thinks it makes sense.
Martin says the liquor industry’s position is that they would need about a year to prepare their stores and train staff for marijuana retail.
He acknowledges some pot shops may object to the industry getting in on the action but he says liquor stores already have the know-how in operating within strict guidelines.
