Local climate walks draw crowds

Over 900 citizens of Rossland, Castlegar and Nelson took part in events Sunday to call for action on climate change.

They joined a number of events organized world-wide to show support to world leaders at the Paris climate summit where the goal is to negotiate an international agreement to tackle global warming.

In Nelson there were 500 on hand marching along Baker Street accompanied by music from a samba band.

In Castlegar 200 took part in a march from city hall to Millenium Park where they were greeted by guest speakers and music.

In Rossland a candlelit vigil was attended by 200 along with music, guest speakers and a petition to leaders to address climate change.
