The City Of Castlegar stands to see big savings for their energy conservation efforts.
Fortis BC presented city council with a rebate cheque for saving roughly 500,000 kilo-hours annually by updating the venting system at the South Sewage Treatment Plant.
Nicole Bogdanovic, the Corporate Communications Advisor for Fortis BC, says the city has a history in keeping energy consumption down.
She says since 1998 the city has saved nearly 840,000 kilo-hours annually, which is enough to power 65,000 homes.
