Local First Nation aims for court date with Jumbo

A First Nation from the area are in the process of seeking leave to appeal a BC Court ruling from August.

This decision ruled in favor of Jumbo Glacier Resort’s development agreement, stating it did not violate the Ktunaxa’s charter right to freedom of religion.

They disagree because Jumbo would be building on land which is sacred territory.

Ktunaxa Council Chair, Kathryn Teneese, is preparing for all possible outcomes of the appeal process.

A panel of judges will review the application and decide if they will get the right to a full appeal hearing.
