An apology and embarrassing about-turn from the provincial government.
Environment Minister Mary Polak had to rescind Monday’s decision that removes the need for an Environmental Assessment for sweet gas processing facilities and destination resorts.
She failed to consult First Nations before making the move.
Green Party leader Adam Olsen says after the initial announcement government and industry officials attending a gas summit hosted by Fort Nelson First Nation were asked to leave!
In her apology Polak says the government is committed to a strong, respectful and productive relationship with First Nations.
