Fatal boating collision on Kootenay Lake

Creston RCMP are continuing to investigate the cause a fatal boating collision on Kootenay Lake over the weekend.

Corporal Monte Taylor says speed and alcohol have not been ruled out.

A 30-year old Fruitvale man was killed after a boat carrying four people struck a rock near Riondel on Sunday night.

The other three occupants, also from Fruitvale, were taken to Kootenay Lake Hospital with undisclosed injuries.

No names have been released.

Taylor says the investigation is preliminary and they are still collecting information.

The coroner’s report is expected to be released later today.
