Unemployment stats out today don’t paint a very rosy picture for our region.
The jobless rate in the Kootenays last month was eight per cent — the highest of BC’s seven subregions.
That’s compared to 6.3 per cent at the same time last year.
It’s also higher than the national rate of seven per cent.
