Delegates at this week’s Kootenay Boundary Local Government’s Convention are expected to endorse a resolution criticizing the drastic changes to BC Ambulance response protocol.
RDKB Chair Grace McGregor says smaller communities have been impacted by the decision not to despatch first responders for what are deemed less serious cases.
The BC Ambulance decision is aimed at speeding up response times for emergencies and cutting down on calls where sirens and flashing lights can lead to accidents.
But McGregor says smaller communities were never consulted and their needs are not being met.
