Grand Forks to get cleaner river effluent

Upgrades to Grand Forks’ community waste water infrastructure will help protect fish and their aquatic habitat in the Kettle River.

The City received two thirds of the $460,000 project from the provincial and federal governments.

Mayor Frank Konrad says the money will help implement an ultra-violet disinfection process that is safe, effective and in keeping with Council’s desire to respect the natural environment.

Konrad admits if it weren’t for the funding they probably wouldn’t be able to take on a project like this.

He says the project is in line with The Grand Forks Sustainable Community Plan.
