Nelson is looking at capping short-term rentals.
It’s part of a proposed regulatory scheme presented to city council this morning.
Student researcher Alex Thumm says there would both be an overall limit and a density limit.
Thumm says other types of businesses already face geographic restrictions through zoning.
Nelson has an estimated 120 short-term rentals but most are technically illegal.
The city is looking at allowing them but charging a sliding-scale business license fee.
